The New England Carpenters Health Benefits Fund is a self-insured 100% employer-paid Health plan that provides family coverage to all members who meet semi-annual qualifying requirements. The Fund provides Health benefits to all members in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Massachusetts. Under the various collective bargaining agreements, employers are required to contribute to the Health Fund on behalf of Carpenter employees.

Health coverage is provided in 6-month periods beginning on April 1 and October 1. To be eligible for full benefit coverage, a member must work a minimum number of hours during the qualifying periods of February-July and August-January.

Benefits provided by the Plan include the following:

  • BCBS Preferred Provider Organization allowing access to a specialist without approval from a primary care physician

  • In-Network Benefits paid at 100% with no deductible or in some cases, a co-pay and deductible

  • Delta dental coverage

  • Vision benefits

  • Prescription drug program

  • Routine physical exams

  • Well-baby visits

  • Disability extensions and short-term disability

  • Early retiree coverage up to age 65
